I don’t want metal braces at my age, are there any other options for me?
Yes! With Invisalign®, you don’t wear metal braces. Instead, your teeth are straightened by wearing a series of virtually invisible plastic aligners. Almost no one can tell you’ve got the aligners on (unless you tell them). They can also be removed if you have an important event or evening planned.
It seems like too much trouble and will take too long, should I just leave my teeth the way they are?
Treatment with Invisalign® is easy! You’ll receive a series of clear aligners, which allow you to start a fresh set every two weeks. You wear them all the time, except when you’re eating, drinking anything but water, brushing, and flossing. After your consultation we can determine an approximate treatment time for you. On average, most Invisalign® takes about 3-12 months depending on each individual.

Meet Dr. Kassam
Yaletown Laser & Cosmetic Dentistry (YL&CD) was founded in 1998 by Dr. Omar Kassam and Dr. Shelly Kassam. The husband and wife duo created the practice with the goal of helping people achieve their dream smiles.
Known as the “Godfather of Cosmetic Dentistry” within the office, he is one of the first dentists in Canada to become an Accredited Educator for the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD). He was recently honoured with a distinctive Master of Laser Dentistry award from the Academy of Laser Dentistry.
With more than 3 decades of experience focusing on Smile Transformations and Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Kassam has a unique process that is unlike any other dentist in the city. In Dr. K’s world, Smile Makeovers, Porcelain Veneers, Cosmetic and Aesthetic dentistry are a beautiful collaboration of health sciences and simply beautiful art. For this reason, he developed special processes and decided to build a fully staffed, full-time Cosmetic Dental lab within his practice exclusively for his patients.
Meet Dr. Shelly
Dr. Shelly Kassam is the Co-Founder of Yaletown Laser and Cosmetic Dentistry (1998) with her husband, Dr. Omar Kassam and is the Founder and President of Yaletown Laser Centre (2000).
With more than 3 decades of experience focusing in the Cosmetic Makeover world and a keen interest in proactive prevention for dental and systemic health, Dr. Shelly Kassam strives to create individualized plans for her patients by addressing the aesthetic goals for a beautiful, straight and balanced smile as well as addressing TMJ, facial pain and intraoral relief of gum disease and occlusal or bite disease that causes tremendous damage and loss of function and teeth eventually.
By focusing on both intraoral and extraoral health and rejuvenation, Dr. Shelly Kassam and our highly acclaimed dental team can marry different modalities to ensure outstanding and artful results for the longevity of the teeth as well as for youthfulness of the face thus boosting self confidence and self esteem.
Dr. Kassam continuously stays up to date on Invisalign by attending courses and seminars like the Invisalign Summit in Las Vegas and the Mark Hodge Mentorship Program.
Meet Dr. Sam
Dr. Sahand Shokati is a dental professional who excels in the field of dentistry with a particular emphasis on innovative laser treatments. He began his academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia, followed by a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Sydney in 2020. Dr. Shokati’s commitment to staying at the cutting edge of dental technology is evident in his pursuit of a Masters in Laser Dentistry (MSc) at the Laser and Health Academy and the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Rome, Italy. This advanced training ensures that Dr. Shokati remains at the forefront of dental techniques that prioritize patient comfort and effective results.
Dr. Shokati's is an active member of several organizations such as the BC Dental Association (BCDA), Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), and the BC College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP). Through these affiliations, Dr. Shokati stays informed about the latest advancements and best practices in dentistry, ensuring that his patients receive the most current and effective treatments available.
